Blackjack Bonuses
No deposit bonuses
Some casinos even offer completely free bonuses to play with. For example, Jackpot City is currently offering 500 free credits to play with for 30 minutes. Winnings above 520 credits can be transferred into the players real money account up to a maximum of 200 credits. Additional wagering is then required to withdraw the bonus amount as real money.
The best strategy when given small free money bonuses is to play aggressively. You will not win big playing dollar hands of blackjack. Another method is to play games that offer large payouts for relatively small bets, such as slots or video poker. It is important not to be too aggressive when winnings are capped. In the case of Jackpot City players can transfer a maximum of 200 credits to their player account. It would be heartbreaking to hit a royal flush in video poker or a progressive/bonus slot only to realise that you can’t cash out anywhere near that much.
Just be aware of any additional wagering that may be required in order to cash out. Jackpot City states that after transferring the free bonus credits, the player must deposit a minimum of £20 and then wager the deposit and bonus a further 30 times. Of this, only 2% of the wagering is permitted on blackjack. 100% of the wagering is permitted on slot machines, but these are incredibly high variance games. While that may have paid off in qualifying for the bonus, it could just as easily wipe out any chance of a profit. Know the rules before you sign up for the bonus!
VIP bonuses
Some casinos will offer special VIP bonuses for selected customers. Many casinos will outline VIP qualification criteria on their website. If not, generally taking advantage of all available reload bonuses (to show you are a repeat customer) is advisable. Additionally, increasing your average bet size (while sticking with low variance blackjack) will increase the chance that you will qualify for special bonuses. Some have noted that they tend to get better offers if they reverse withdrawal requests. Of course, you should never bet more than you can afford or bet beyond your means on the off-chance that you will be offered bonuses. Remember, they simply may not be forthcoming.
Sometimes VIP bonuses are also available to new customers. Casinos will typically offer larger signup bonuses in exchange for larger initial deposits or greater wagering requirements.
Remember
- Is the casino reputable?
- What type of bonus are they offering – cashable or sticky?
- What is the wagering requirement?
- Does blackjack count towards the wagering?
- Calculate your expected return, and check that the offer is worth your time.
- Make sure you accurately track the wagering so you don’t request a withdrawal too early.
- Check if there is any time restriction on the bonus – does wagering have to be completed within a certain number of days?
